Collections Management Plan

This project is a mock Collections Management Plan developed for the Ringling Circus Museum as an exercise in applying collections management principles to a museum setting. The plan provides a framework for how the museum would manage, care for, document, access, and develop its collections, while establishing policies for areas such as acquisitions, deaccessioning, loans, conservation, risk management, intellectual property, and collections access. The project is designed to demonstrate how the different responsibilities and policies involved in collections management work together to support the museum’s mission, ensure responsible stewardship, and preserve collections for future research, education, and exhibition.
